We have been approached to do a site for a college, and they want a lot of JQuery effects, lightboxes, containers of rotating / animated content, however they also want the site to be DDA AA compliant. There are some bits in the official guidelines that I am not sure about Presume this means rotating content etc Does this get effected by lightboxes? as they are not actually spawned windows and do not remove focus from the main browser window Again seems anti rotating content Am I right in thinking when it says "Until user agents allow", as long as you provide a control to stop the rotating / animation then it is deemed ok? Obviously it will all need to be degradable if there is no javascript available, but that only seems to be a single A guideline re: alternate method.
You can have moving content (rotators, slideshows, carousel) IF it does not play automatically. You can have a play button to start it, but it cannot start playing by itself.
