one of my clients are thinking about building a dating site. I have been looking a little into it and seems to be a lot of different software to choose from. Anyone who can recommend a good software solution where its possible to modify the language, graphics easy to use and looks very pro?
A friend of mine have one of this kind of sites. He's using joomla with some theme. I am going to ask him more and reply again!
If you looking for a offline web design software most people use Frontpage, Dreamviewer etc. If you looking for online content management systems Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress are there but Wordpress is the mostly use & easiest to handle .
Nope, more of a full system with all features in. The webdesign part isn't a problem, just way to big a job building it from scratch when there seems to be some nice premade systems. Was an old thread about 2 years old with similar questions, but figured there might be some new and better options today.
JOOMLA, DRUPAL and WORDPRESS are there but WORDPRESS is the mostly use & easiest to handle.TRY IT.BEST OF LUCK
Thanks but these addons I have seen there for dating just doesn't look good enough. Been researching some more and these two seems like the best choices so far. Abledating 2.4 from abk-soft and BoonEx Dolphin. Especially the first seems really nice just some of the features a little teen like while the other looks more professionel but probably requires more work to setup and the right features.
I used osDate for a clients site, and it works fine. Another good solution is Noahs Classifieds since it comes prepackaged with Dating features.
I know the original post is over a month old, but I felt compelled to answer for anyone else who might run across this thread. There's a lot of negative information about ABK and Abledating on the web, but I've had a really good experience with them. We were using another Social Networking provider for our new dating site, but weren't satisfied with the look and the features. Nothing was customizable, yada, yada, yada. We decided to give ABK a try. I think a lot of the negative comments about the company aren't really about the script as much as they have to do with the hosting company you choose. We actually went through 3 of them before we got everything needed to make the site work. They have to be willing to open some ports for you - and they have to allow you to increase the size of uploads for your members in order to take full advantage of the software. They also need to put your database on a server that isn't getting a lot of traffic from someone else using the same server. None of these things have anything to do with the Abledating script itself. You're going to run into these kinds of issues with ANY social networking script that you choose to host and operate yourself. If you want someone else to "just make it work" - then get a ning site and just live with the limitations. But, if you want something more robust and you want to be able to modify it to suit your needs, then I highly recommend ABK. The help desk at ABK worked with us every step of the way. Generally, we would have answers within a few minutes (you read that right...within a few MINUTES) - even on weekends. If they needed to have a programmer make changes, it would generally take no more than 12-24 hours. Sometimes, we wanted things that aren't included with the script. For less than $600, you're not paying for a customized solution, after all. For those things, we used abk-experts.com. For a hundred dollars here and 50 bucks there, we were able to get everything we wanted. We're still tweaking and modifying, but we have a site that's up and running and generating traffic and new members every day. If we hadn't had problems with the hosting providers, it would have taken about a week. Even with TWO moves to different hosts, it took us about 3 weeks. Not bad for a site that's full of features and over which we have complete control. OK - I know I sound like a company representative.
