...one that shows latest results. What I mean is this... If I want to check rankings for my keywords, which datacenter should I check to show the general direction of how things are going? If I just check Google.com, I can get different datacenters, which will give me false changes. Thanks.
http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php http://www.seocritique.com/serptool/serplist.htm these two work well for me
I don't think there is a main datacenter, I tend to not worry about datacenters and just look at the actual serps that are on my screen.
Well you know what position you were in and if you check all datacenters using a tool like the one at SEOChat then you will see some datacenter on the old results and some on the new results. Though it is not worth worrying till a little later in the update as they normally change it round a bit again nearer the end. But seeing how many messages and how much rep you have I assume you already know this and are after something else really.
Sorry...that's not quite what I meant. I use a program called Advanced Web Ranking to check my rankings constantly for about 440 keyword phrases. What I'd like to be able to do is check a specific datacenter instead of Google.com because Google.com switches between datacenters, and I get different results all the time, without knowing if the change is coming or going.
I'm seeing the new serps on around 20 DC's, here's just a few: 64.233.179.104 64.233.161.99 72.14.207.99
Too many people create sites that algo chase one factor or another of the algorithm, and when the weight is altered for this factor, they have to move onto another to shore it up. Create a good well balanced site with all the elements covered, and it will stand the test of time. Build pages for visitors and tell the robots how to find them. A new day with good SERP's on Google is a free lunch.
http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-data-centers.htm has a list of the data centers and info about them.
I am actually not chasing one factor or another of the algorithm. I just want to keep a watch on my rankings and know where work is needed.
