Database Problem?

I have sent a support to my server people, but quite frankly they are slow at getting back.

I have been running a webforum perfectly fine on a (gs) server for a week. However just today when I tried to load my domain It comes up with the message:

    "Connection Problems

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

And I get an email sent to me saying:

"There has been a problem with the database!

This is a notice email to let you know that SMF could not connect to the database, contact your host if this continues."

    What do I do?

In most of the cases you get the error because you have put in the wrong user/password or the wrong database server (localhost at the most providers).

if it worked previously ( so that it's not the case of wrong username/password/host ) then most probably the mysql server is overloaded, or in case it runs on the same host as the webserver, the mysql service needs to be restarted.

Only your hosting company can fix it in such cases.
