Database missing..but forums still running

I created a forum a long time ago via a cpanel script installer (that creates the database for you) with Fatcow hosting. It was a phpbb3 forum. The forum has been active for months.

When I went into my MySql panel to look for the database, it was not there..

I contacted support and all they said was:

    Hello Chris,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to restore the database. I have checked in the backup server and there is no backup of the database 'forummms'. Please recreate the database once again from your end.

If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

    Sincerely,

I never even TOUCH the MySql interface. I do not see how this database could be "missing". He told me to re-create it, but will this cause me to loose all my forum posts, members, topics, etc?

Also, I dont see how my forum is STILL running fine, "without a database" supposedly..

If your forum is running then the database is there - just not showing up in the control panel. Check your PHPBB3 config.php file to find out exactly where your database is as part of that config.php file is the database server address, database name, username and password. You can then provide all this information to your hosting provider for them to look into the problem further and find out why the database doesn't show in your control panel.

And I dont get how this can happen, and my host just brushes it off saying it doesnt exist. If I end up solving this problem with the help of Digitalpoint and NOT via my host, I will be writing a horrible review about them. I need to sell this website and they pull this crap. Its simply not acceptable.

    Here is what I noticed.

When I used scriptinstaller to install scripts, the script installer will create the database automatically. I guess it gives it weird long goofy names. See the screenshot below:

When I open those databases with weird names in PHPmyADMIN, ALL THE WEIRD NAME DATABASES SHOW Up. and only THEY show up. Refer to my first screen shot, you see a few user created databases "contentmang" "forumsoftware" "vb". But when I view PHPMYADMIN, they dont show up, just the script ones that were created automatically. Notice the server circled at the top:

Now when I open "contentmang" which is user created, JUST that one database shows up. Notice the server name. Keep that in mind, also take note its different from the "server name" in the screenshot in the first picture.

Now for some reason (i dont know, maybe its supposed to be like this), all the different databases are on different "servers"? Refer to screenshot one, the database I NEED is not there "forummms". This certainly could not have "disappeared" into thin air. And how is my forum still running perfectly if its "gone"? I never even TOUCHED the MYsql interface because im not too good with it.

Hopefully we can figure this out soon. Because I sold the website a couple days ago and need to get this NOW.

    BAM SOLVED IT!

I noticed the link to access the MYPHPADMIN for a certain database:
    http://www.site.com/cp/MySQL/login.bml?loginname=DATABASELOGINNAME;dbname=DATABASENAME

so I tried editing it, putting in the database information for my forums software that I took from the config.php file. BAM logged into the MYSQL and im viewing the forum database.

    A few things!

    1) Why is this database not showing up on the first screenshot I posted? For future databases, this needs to be fixed.

    2) IT shows, this database DOES exist, turns out im not crazy. Hosting error?

So what should I do guys? Report this to the host? Because this is not fair and needs to be fixed.
