I get errors semilar to that, and I believe it is not a DB error, it's more like a file error. PHP or TPL. It's safer if you back up DB and re-upload your files(over write it (make back up first).

No, but it is highly suggested to make a back up anyways, then make a clean install. I have done this tens of times;) by uploading the wrong tpl or php files that is how I get those errors or have inserted a bad codes into the files. Basically it's the files and have nothing to do with the DB.

    Hes probably on x.x version :D ...

But best way to check sql is on or not is to create or try to create new db from your control panel, phpmyadmin will give u weird errors or just blank page. :D

For all we know it could be 2.0 , well if that admin page is opening clearly rules out SQL server offline option.

It seems to be a internal problem as

I see 0 categories on the admin page!

May be I should check the database again

    Okay,

This is what you should do:

    Go to phpmyadmin
    Select the dir db
You will get a list of the tables in the db
    Check all the tables
There will be a drop down (with selected) next to check all, from there select repair table...

Trust this will make you up and running again.

I repaired another table having 8 million listings

At some point it said the table had been crashed and lost

    I was shocked

Then I again executed SQL command and now it indexes faster than usual!
