Database corruption.

    Hi all....

Im in a bit of a mess right now. My workstation gave me a blue screen, while optigold was opening up and now i cant seem to recover my data from it.
    I running 3.3.2 with filemaker pro 5.5v1.

I have tried doing a recovery on the mainmenu.fp5 file and it tells me it found 148 fields. but when i do a recovery on a fresh mainmenu.fp5 fmo a clean installation it tells me that it has about 377.

I have tried upgrading to the same version, and it imports what appears to be all of my customers into the new copy but the data is in the wrong fields.

Also if i open the mainmenu.fp5 file on its own it asks me for a password for the database, it does not have the normal login that is supposed to come up. The password was just garbage characters i have discovered after using a filemaker password recovery utility and it will let me in that way, but i cant even remove the password form it.

If anybody knows how to fix this it will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    KoRnEy

The best option I think would be to do an upgrade... without using "fast mode". That will allow you to see the field mapping for MainMenu.fp5 (since it sounds like some field definitions were lost) and map them correctly to the new "clean" data files.

    Shawn,

    Upgrade to 3.3.4? or 3.3.2?
Ive already upgraded to 3.3.2, to no avail. with and without fast mode. but the question is, how do i map them correctly when they are not named anymore and i dont know what data is in them?

The version does not matter. What do you mean they are not named anymore? You don't see a field list when the field mapping comes up?

Hmmm... in that case you may have to view the data (you can spin through record data to see what's in there) and map it based on things you recognize. Although personally, that would be too much work for me, and I would just go to a backup.

    Hey all,
Ive sucessfully imported my customer information back into optigold (Whoohoo!) after many many hours of deliberation.
ive verified the details and they all seem correct. However the domain and email services are all missing.
I have tried to use the import domains and emails functions from maintainance and preferences. But still nothing. I have also done a recovery on the services.fm file that has the data in it and still nothing. Am i doing something wrong?

Did you have to map the Services_.fp5 file when it imported? (that is where the services are at)

Issue has now been resolved.... i simply replaced the new services_fp5 with my old one, and walla, it loaded up all my old domains and emails without missing anything.

Thanks shawn for your help yesterday. Much appreciated... Hope to see the MySQL/PHP version soon :)
