We recently had our filemaker server crash for unknown reasons and we booted it up and restarted the filemaker service and now we cannot find any recent entries, the latest entries are from the middle of september 2005 we have about 600 clients in Optigold with around 60+from September to December not to mention the invoices and payments for all our clients is we have a backup from December 20th, 2005 but it still has the same September files and also saying that it is read only even though the files are not read only i am really in a pinch here we have clients that are new and now we only have a few hard copy

i myself am new to filemaker and optigold and dont know what could have caused this if someone could please help me out i would really appreciate it. Thank you.

If it took a hard crash and lost data because of it, I would revert to your most recent backup.

do you know why they would be saying, "This field is not modifiable" on every thing you try to do?

The files could be set to read-only mode (locked) by the operating system on the FileMaker Server machine or by FileMaker Server itself.

Did you check the filemaker server log after you started it for damaged database files? Whenever my filemaker server goes poof suddenly, and I try to restart it, almost always the frequently used databases need repairing. Open the files individually in Filemaker and select repair, this seems to always work, and we haven't noticed a loss of information.
