hi guys.. i know this has been discussed some times before.. but am not sure:
    if i choose a domain name www.kewyord1-kewyord2-kewyord3.com
    am i getting penalized?

i dont see many sites with such names in the top 10-20 of results for various keywords.

    please advise,
    best

Dashes in domain name are preferred by Google. So if you have domain with keyword1-kerword2-keyword3 then its far more better than keyword1kerword2keyword3. For further details you can read Matt Cutts Blog here. But remember don't stuff to many keywords in domain name.

i dont think google will penalize you for having more than 1 dashes in domain name. as google also prefer this kind of domain, you can always have key1-key2-key3 kind of domain. it can surely increase your domain value.

You have absolutely no problem with Google or any other SEs, because of the dashes.
All my domains have at least 1 dash, which I think is pretty useful way to separate the keywords, so that visitors can remember the URL easier. All these domains are doing great (except the very new ones of course...).

    I too have a website pc-download-games

The keywords may work good but still I feel that the returning visitors are not so many...may be because they can't remember the name unless they have bookmarked it.
So sometimes I think I should buy a new domain and transfer all contents there though I have very good contents in it.

Do you have any other better suggestion.

I think you'll be fine... As long as your site is clean... and full of value, and of course relevant to your multi-dsahed domain name... you should be fine :)

The most important thing about domain name is to say "what is the website about". It does not matter if it has dashes or not. Do not register spamming domains (ones that aims to be used as keywords).

In this case, would it be a good idea to register two domains; One being keyword1keyword2.XXX (easy to remember, good for direct traffic) that would redirect to keyword1-keyword2.XXX ?

I think there is no any problem if you use domain name with dashes but keep in mind do not use more keywords with dashes. I have also site containing domain name with dashes and it is going well.

I am not sure what the guys here are trying to say, if they are trying to say keywords1-keyword2.com is better than keywords1keyword2.com, then I totally disagree, Google and the other engines are smart enough to notice your keywords without dashes, user wise dashes are not user friendly and if you go to any domain evaluation tool you will see how the dash in domain will reduce your domain value by half some time and Google smart enough to know that the unhyphenated site suppose to be in most cases more legitimate business .. as most people go after the hyphenated domains when they can not find the connected one available

It doesn't have anything to do with the dashes. You could get in the top search of Google if you are always doing your SEO.

SERP isn't done on a few weeks.
