I recently noticed., (while watching people in an internet center),
When they type a query and see the results, They just blindly click the results found on the left side (starting from the blue results)., That too., when they see a keyword match in the results.,

Some opend 5 links (starting from the first instantly)., After this they read the right side links and click.,

    Have anyone noticed this?

    Will this convert well?

Try it if you've seen it first hand - what's to lose? (apart from all your AdSense earnings, lol). I think you can be on 'autopilot' when you are searching on Google and it's definitely true that some people are just attracted to any old blue link.

You are talking about "click happy" phenomenon - where you have a good position, receive more clicks but your conversion is terrible - people trend to click randomically on best position ads - hurting its ROI.

People that are not going ready to buy some kind of products, rarely open ads on 6+ position, so ads on this position don't are affected - but who are going to buy take more care and open more ads - so ads on worst position get a better conversion rate and a better ROI.

Normally you notice this when you are converting well and decide to increase your bids for the next period and then you get a RED ROI due to new period terrible conversion due now your ads got first positions (more expensive per click and terrible conversion)

Keep your eyes open - this is why exist positioning preference - sometimes is better to force position 6+ to avoid this kind of problem

yeah you are right, I see setting a position preference between 3 to 5 is the best :)
