    AAARGHHH. Sorry, just needed to vent.

    Ok, on my site, I have adsense ads floating in the articles, as well as some in the sidebar. The article ads load first, thus house higher paying ads (that is my understanding anyway). a lot of people are clicking on the crappy ads in the sidebar. Do you think I would be better off deleting sidebar ads, "forcing" readers to click on post ads?

    Let me knoe if you dont get what I'm saying and I'll elaborate...

    Why would you delete the block that gives you clicks?

    It is always worth testing out what happens with less ad blocks. Results seem to vary a lot from site to site, but I and plenty of others find income is higher with less ads.

    i was in a situation similar to this...

    visitors clicked more on the 2nd ad which showed lower paid ads so i deleted the 1st ad unit... i don't recommend you delete the unit whick gets more click :)

    Music related ads alot of times don't pay very well. Lots of junk in adwords. However, when there are worthwhile ads, they will usually get displayed and alot of time you'll see nice paying ones come through.

    The general mentality should be more one of: .01 = penny I didn't have, .01x10 = dime I didn't have and .01x100 = dollar I didn't have.

    Over time this adds up and according to the people smarter than I am Adsense will most likely display the highest relevant ad for what it believes your site is about. Sometimes this is good, sometimes it's bad, but in my experience, chasing the high paying ads, all ends up about the same. I can get 100 clicks and make a dollar in lets say 7 days or I can get 1 click and make a dollar in 7 days. Which is better?

    The only real way to chase higher paying ads, is to build sites that center around those topics that will pull a number of higher paying ads, and in turn and audience that's interested in them. I'd rather have 100 interested people than 1000 uninterested people.

    Take the "sidebar" off for 2 days to see what happens.

    Or at least for one day...

    move some pages to YPN and see what happens.

    One thing for sure YPN does not pay 1 cent clicks but the ads are sometimes not as relevant.

    to answer a few questions (most of you figured this out)

    I write music reviews (my niche). They are not mainstream artists.

    By deleting an ad unit that is getting $0.01 clicks, there is a chance that visitors will click on the remaining, higher paying ads.

    I have decided to wait for a while, for the site to grow a bit more, and build some more traffic before deciding what to do. Yahoo is defiantely an option...

    This sounds like good advice!

    Id suggest you to put the following comments before and after your main content to get better ad relevancy :

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->
    [your main keyword rich content here]
    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    Code (markup):

    Oh yeah, I forgot about those, thanks :)

    I just moved from blogspot, still getting used to wordpress...

    The ads (at least the ones I'm seeing) are targetted ok though - are they for you?

    You can make use of competitive ad filter to avoid certain ads being shown on your site. If you see ringtone, or MFA sites ads on your site, put them in and hopefully that will keep way for better ads

    yep, I have quite a filter list built up from my blogspot hosting days. All of the "blog software" ones that you see on any blogspot page..

    I think it is a naturally low paying niche. I think I will focus on building traffic - lots of clicks = ok earnings I guess :D

    Thanks for all the suggestions so far :)

    You say the article ads load first, thus are higher paying... if that is the situation, why not just change up the way your page loads... like place your site in div layers and have the sidebar section higher on the html of the page?
