I forgot to remove install directory when I installed my directory script (IndexScript) and today some lowlife started installation again 1000 submited links gone, custom added categories gone, settings gone, now I need to start again from nothing.
So check your installation because this pests are going around and ruining directories.
Yes I know it is my fault i left this install stuff online but I hope that this one who did this will be hit by a bus soon.

Contact your support and ask them to pass yesterday's backup, do mention to update database also! I am sure they should be doing daily backup's ?? :)

U have my sincere condolences for such an attack. Tks for the reminder and its a good warning for others as well.

You shld really remember to do regular backups and if you are interested in you can read common mistakes of directory owners i compiled awhile back here:
    http://blog.linksfactory.net/directory-owners-share-their-painful-mistakes.html

u'll be surprised to see what is the top most common mistake - not making backups :(

Always a shame to hear of things like this, was there by chance the slim hope your hosts did a backup on the cron? Most good hosts will have backup.cron installed. If not, or your on your own server maybe this link will help you.. http://www.faqs.org/docs/securing/chap29sec306.html

    Hope this helps.

you're the second person i know who had this happen to their indexscript directory. looks like there is someone going around checking if webmasters forgot to remove their install folder after installing their indexscript directory.
