So today I had a day off. I decided to sort out the noisey floor boards upstairs on the landing. Bang a few nails in, that will do it I thought............Yeah right! Damn water pipe........ you guessed...........! Nail straight through water pipe....uuughh! So had to call plumber rip up floorboards replace plasterboard on soaked ceiling and yup...the damn stop cock was siezed so a new one of those too..! Altogether a great day...............not!
I had a similar problem last week when i had to change the immersion heater the stop cock was jammed and i had to use a set of Mole Grips to close the valve as luck would have it only a small amount of water escaped but it could have been worse i guess.Another problem we had was when i was on holiday in scotland about 6 years back the main header tank overflowed and done cosmetic damage more than anything but as luck would have it the house insurance covered us and the final bill came to about £7000 with the 1st £200 is what we had to pay.
