Never try to add keywords or text to a page, in the same color font as
the exact background color, thus making text appear hidden or invisible.

In fact don't EVER use hidden text, hidden links or hidden "anything" on a page
unless you want to risk setting off some warning flags and risk getting in trouble.

Are you continually looking for new types of content to add to your Web site?

One type of content to consider adding is "statistical data."
What is useful or of high interest to your target audience?

It's important to quote your source so if the stats aren't your own
always indicate where you're getting them - not only is it good form,
but this can save your bacon if the stats are wrong..."blame the other guy!"

Let us discuss something about LSI

What is Latent Semantic Indexing or LSI?

The term "latent" means "hidden" or "concealed."
The term "Semantic" means "interconnected system."
The term "index" as a verb means "order."

LSI is being used to deliver a measure of
"artificial intelligence" to the search engines.

With LSI influences in Google, search engines are beginning to understand a whole lot more about the "context" of a message.

Not only must we remember the importance of writing excellent, high value content into our Web site, but we also need to understand that it is all based on what a search engine "knows" about a specific topic based on its overall collected data.

One easy way to find out what words a search engine "thinks" are connected to your important keywords, is to use Wordtrackers "Full Search Function" in the members area of Wordtracker http://www.wordtracker.com

    No it isn't.

I think it is time to put a fork into this myth and kill it off :)

Thanks a lot for the information given. :)

Something more I would like to add on this...

one of the most excellent definitions of "semantics" is from one of our associates Michael Marshall of Search Engine Academy Raleigh, North Carolina
    Michael says....

"In the simplest terms, Semantics is - the study of language meaning; the meaning of individual words, sentences, or documents. The field of semantics
includes the study of how meaning is constructed, interpreted, clarified, obscured, illustrated, simplified, negotiated, contradicted and paraphrased."

Here is how Michael defines "Latent Semantic Indexing" as it relates to the Web:

"With respect to LSI, semantics deals with how the various aspects of meaning can be found hidden in documents by means of the presence, absence, associations and relationships between words found in those documents."

MSN Canada Paid Search Platform now offers the ability to target PPC ads using the highest level of demographic targeting of the big 3 (Google, Yahoo and MSN).

TIP: Times zones and hence "Time of day" for non-premium advertisers, is linked to where the advertiser's place of business is, so if you want to reach searchers in BC between 8PM and 10PM (PST) and you are say in the EST time zone, you need to set the time zone to PST at the Campaign Level or you will miss them completely.

Today's SEO tip of the Day

    Get rid of "code bloat."

Spiders are simple programs, try to make it easier for them to do their job simple: finding your content.

Put one spider in another spider's web and it gets stuck.

By using CSS and moving the Java-Script and CSS to external files, you can minimize the likelihood that a spider will get stuck on your site and not being able to spider your full page nor all your links on it.

Want another reason to use external CSS files??? Anything that pushes keyword containing text further down on the page could be negatively affecting your rankings.

Have you got a few pages that still need some help?

We are talking about pages you've been working on, but they've not been in the rankings for some reason or other and you're not happy with them.

TIP: Little changes (one at a time only) can make a HUGE difference in a measured exercise where you record your details and review progress systematically...

Why not look back and review the last changes you made on them and make one more single variation in just one of the influential relevancy factors?

Don't make too many changes - try to just make one important change only.

Be sure to record it in your log as well as record the rankings with the date of your entry.

Do NOT submit or re-submit your page using any free ADD URL. Instead let the robots come back and find the changes (based on their own schedule.)

Look at your log files to see how often the robot is coming back to visit.

There is nothing Called LSI for SEO :) Now a days, the biggest asset of an SEO is a smart copywriter.

However the theory of Semantic Connectivity Exists, that works well with SE's algorithm as a part of query expansion. Using related keywords mix up with your main keyword.

before hitting the deck with LSI SEO one must go through Dr. Garcia's Papers on IT Intelligence.

Probably this is the best website I have came across.

Yahoo! Search Marketing Canada's recently asked me to give SEO 101 Basics Seminars to some of their major clients.

Here I mentioned more about the delicate situations that can arise if your PPC ad ends up on a page with negatively related content. The example I used
was a Travel Agent's PPC ad being on a page telling of a disaster. Nasty.

Well while waiting (and waiting) for the plane back to Montreal after the seminars, I read that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) found their recruitment PPC ad on the site of an allegedly notorious street gang in LA. It seems the PPC ad was programmed to run on youth sites.

Of course as soon as they were told of the mix up, the PPC ad, along with the smiling face of a female RCMP officer, was promptly removed.

Keep an close eye on your Paid Search Campaigns, especially if you use contextual ads.

BTW working with Yahoo ! Canada...was pretty cool. :D

How does that song go "...the seasons change and so do [our web pages]..."

Prepare some new optimization strategies with a seasonal approach.

But prepare them well ahead of time so that you can be ranked and visible BEFORE the season arrives.

Allow for a 3 month window. July is be a great time to begin creating some new pages for Halloween. October would be a great time to begin building for Christmas promotions.

When you are thinking about what type of content to write for new promotional strategies, always remember that the traffic is not the whole solution.

You must also convert your visitors to buyers.

Always watch for ways to work with "emotional content" since most people make their "buying decisions" when they are in an emotional state.

Your promotions need to make the visitor FEEL something.

Consider at times where the use of humour might be incorporated, or perhaps the warm fuzzy feelings produced by the tone of your writing.

What about a feeling of immediacy through a limited time offer?

This is a secret that traditional advertisers have been using successfully for years.

When you think of building a search engine friendly site you probably don't think of optimizing your images. Title tags and META tags probably come to mind first, but optimizing images can attract more visitors to your site and enhance their experience when they get there. Properly optimized images will decrease page load times, allow people with disabilities that use screen readers to understand the content that they can't see, and bring new visitors to your site from image searches.
