Has anyone got any ideas or tips on things i should be doing daily to promote my website and improve serps. I have tired posting on forums and link exchanging but still it seems very hard to get the kind of traffic i need?

One thing you already did: post to specialized forums like DP ...and if you post regurarly you can get visitors from here too (especially if it's a tech blog).
