    sometimes the keywords automatically approve but the ad (copy) goes into pending automatically. in the ad group screen you can click on the ad tab (when you first go to ad group it goes to keywords). it will probably say the ad is pending if your ads are not showing. a bit hard to find that out, since i didn't really find it clear either and used to wonder why my ads were taking up to 24 hours to show for some ad groups and others would begin in 15 minutes.
