    Let me get this straight - you built a group of 31,000+ facebook members and just spammed a few links on the group page with CB products? And people actually bought something? Jeebus...that's really bad...people must be getting dumber lol.

    You're not doing much in the way of pre-sell, and it doesn't look like that traffic is much targeted. I wouldn't bet you'll make many sales with this approach, but I'll subscribe to your thread out of curiosity.

    Hope you can prove me wrong!

    Good morning...

    It seems to be working... Got 1 more Clickbank sale this morning with 2 Amazon products ordered yesterday.

    Group 1: 6662
    Group 2: 35138
    Group 3: 9325
    Group 4: 379

    @smitten
    I've got a bit of a presell on my fan pages for each product. I didn't make it very long because people's attention span is very short. We'll see how it works though. In fact, I may do a split test. The next couple of fan pages I make, I'll focus more on presell. Then I'll measure the results from there. Great advice!

    I have to admit I'm impressed that it's working. All that from pimping out a facebook group...very interesting.

    48 Hour data is in for Group 3. As we can see, our demographic appears to be mostly males age 25 - 34, and the growth appears to be rising at a linear rate with the exception of reduced activity at midnight.

    The screenshot below shows interactions as a result of Statcounter tracking code embedded in my Facebook Fan Pages.

    Morning everyone,

    No sales this morning thus far. Got 1 Amazon sale yesterday - but no commission from it (Amazon no longer gives commissions on Kindle e-Book sales.)

    Group 1: 6681
    Group 2: 42611
    Group 3: 16263
    Group 4: 4794

    In the insights screenshot below, we see that our Facebook Fan Page continues its linear upward trend. We also note the most active participating countries.

    I'd like to pull from a thread I recently posted on. This is the model I follow for viral growth. I hope this information is as beneficial to members as it has been to myself. Enjoy.

    In my experience, all these things have to fall into place. If one of them is lacking, your viral campaign will fail.

    1. People have to have a way to invite their friends
    2. The way has to be very easy for them to follow
    3. You have to give the people a reward for inviting their friends

    Here is a formula that MUST be followed, or viral campaign will FAIL.

    There are 4 types of people:

    a. Number of People Invited
    b. Number of People Joined
    c. Number of People Invited by Those Who Joined
    d. Number of People Joined Who Were Invited By Those Who Joined

    RULE: C must ALWAYS be greater than A, or else your campaign will slow down and fizzle out. In other words, the number of invites sent out by the next group must always be greater than the number of invites sent out by the previous group. (This is assuming the join rate stays the same)

    EXAMPLE:

    a = 2000
    b = 200
    c = 4000
    d = 400

    This is a healthy campaign. As you can see, out of the 2000 people invited, 200 have joined. Then we were able to get those 200 people to invite a grand total of 4000 of their friends. Out of those 4000 invited, 400 have joined. If this continues, we can predict that those 400 will invite a grand total of 8000 people. Then of those 8000 people invited, 800 will join. And so on and so forth.

    EXAMPLE

    a = 2000
    b = 200
    c = 400
    d = 40

    This viral campaign is running out of steam and will fail soon. Out of 2000 people invited, 200 have joined. But out of the 200 that joined, not enough of them have invited their friends. Perhaps the reward wasn't good enough. Those 200 people only invited a total of 400 people. And out of those 400 people invited, only 40 joined. If this continues, we can predict that out of those 40 who joined, they will only invite a grand total of 80 people, of which only 8 will join. And chances are neither of those 8 people will send out invites, thus rendering your campaign a failure.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Applying this rule to my current campaigns, it appears as if C is about the same as A. This means that just enough people are inviting their own friends and just enough of those invited are joining as to keep the growth happening at a linear rate.

    If I were to find a way to increase the join rate, then my growth would no longer be linear - it would begin to be exponential, thus making it a true viral campaign.

    I hope this information is useful to members.

    If these efforts are starting to die out, are you going to do anything to keep them running or are you going to let the groups die?

    @ Christian
    It's in my best interest to grow these groups as much as possible. Reason: I have recently come up with a new reward system that will increase join rates AND invite rates. I'll make 2 new fan pages with this new system. To kick start the viral process of these 2 new fan pages, I'm going to need the firepower of the first 4 groups.

    I may even decrease Group 1 membership to 5000 so I can blast a message to their inbox. That would seem to be a smart move to help kick start the viral growth for my next 2 fan pages.

    It's been 7 days so far, and the foundation for a massive viral kick start is almost laid. Let's give it a few more days, and I'll have the ability to blast messages to over 50,000 people at once. I'll invite those folks to these new fan pages I'm building -- fan pages that give them an offer they CAN'T refuse... having them scrambling to invite their friends AND having those invited scrambling to join. This is all just the beginning.

    STRATEGY FROM HERE:
    Once the fan pages are in the hundreds of thousands, I will blast messages to targeted demographics, inviting them to groups built on specific interests. Each group will run on autopilot, and have a Clickbank hoplink with a soft presell message in the description. I will do this for 200 groups over the course of a few months, depending how people respond and depending how the fan pages grow. I will stop accepting new members when each group reaches 5000. This will ultimately give me ability to blast messages directly to the inbox of 1,000,000 people with 100% deliverability via Facebook servers. The message will also show up in their regular internet email, giving me added exposure. This is more valuable than blasting an update to 1 Million fans because updates go into the "Updates" folder, and not everyone looks in there.

    i've been reading the whole thread, it does sound interesting, but you'll need more time before making more sales obviously. I'm just worried about your randomly targeted viewers.

    I would recommend you to go to the search page and type a keyword (related to your niche affiliate websites) and add everybody you can find.

    A small problem there is that unless you are watching your new groups like a hawk it might not be easy to stop it at 5,000 people. You might need to turn them off once you hit the 4500ish mark just to be safe, otherwise you'd have to watch the groups very closely.

    I don't think anybody reads Updates, I barely notice them lol.

    Another problem with what you are thinking of doing is that Pages can only be created for a single organization/entity. Unless you somebody have 20 organizations you can represent while doing this you won't be able to do it and will risk getting your account banned. So you might have to stick with groups to do this properly.

    Thanks alot for your support.

    @youproblog
    That's good idea. However, I am impatient LOL. Facebook makes adding friends go really slow.

    @Christan
    You have a good point with the account getting banned. But what about the "I love Weekends" and "I Love this" and "I love that" pages? Those pages are just for fun and not any organizations. (At least they don't seem to be.) And those pages are not getting shut down.

    HECK, what about this plan... (I may even dedicate another thread to this plan altogether)

    We may not even need fan pages at all. We'd just go straight to group building! But here's the thing. We'll need manpower to do it fast. I can't do it all by myself. I'll need your help. I'll need 50 Digital Point members to commit to building at least FOUR 5000 member groups EACH. It's very easy to do as you can see from reading this blog

    What do you all think? Would you all like to participate in this project?

    If you're wondering what'll be in it for you, imagine this: Imagine a team of 50 marketers with the ability to blast emails to 1 MILLION REAL CUSTOMERS with 100% deliverability to their Facebook inbox AND internet email TOTALLY FREE AND LEGAL. We'll blast 1 message per day for 50 days, then start the cycle over again. And while you're waiting in line, you can build more groups or monetize the one you have. And if you can convert them to sales, then I think this is an opportunity you should hop on board. If I get good feedback on this idea, I'll branch this project off into another thread so we can focus on it there.

    Thoughts!

    I wish I had an answer. I looked up the terms and conditions for running pages on Facebook when I posted the above reply and they've made it very clear you cant' just create a page for stuff like that. Pages can only be created for organizations (i.e. clubs, bands, etc), companies, and indivudals with some public status (i.e. celebrities) - and in all three cases you have to be legally allowed to represent the person/group to create the group.

    I know a lot of people ignore those rules, but FB does have the grounds to sue a lot of it's members because of all the pages that exist. I like what you are doing, but I think going at this by creating pages could put you in a difficult position if FB starts to go after people doing stuff like this, so stick with groups for now.

    You might want to think this through a bit more. While the idea is interesting, if you are spamming your group on a daily basis I suspect your members will leave the group. I personally would get very annoyed if I logged into facebook to find 5+ emails from a single group since I only login once/week usually.

    You have an interesting idea and I think it might work for a while, but I suspect this borders on abusing facebook services and they might shut you down after a while. I would be interesting to see where this leads though.

    Facebook is where all the traffics at :) Join a bookclub group and post your Amazon affiliate link to there with a small positive review. Would do pretty well
