Daily Fluctuations in Adsense Revenue

I am new to using Adsense. What can cause such wide swings in how much revenue you earn per click/per day. For instance, two days ago I was averaging $0.62 a click. Yesterday, I only averaged $0.08 a click. Any help is appreciated.

    Its depends on many factors...

1> The time of click ... Click just after 00:00 (CA time) Clicks pay more than the clicks that happen at the end of the day...

2> The ads the user clicks.. Say, you have abt 2 blocks with 8 ads in total.. 1st ad in the block pays more than the 2nd .. and so on ...

3> Some advertisers have different pay scales for each day

4> There are many other issues, dynamic content, fraud clicks,n so on

all of anusha said, and how much conversion the advertisers is getting from your site. if many people who clicked on ads convert into customers, then you will most likely get paid more for that type of ad. i think.

Are you sure that the time of click is one of the factors? Where did you get this?
Adsense is global program and it shouldn't have discriminations against time zones...

It's normal. I have differences of 300-400% between clicks.

I have observed that on my stats...
That's primarily coz.. top advertisers per day bidding amt gets over towards the end of the day ..

    @anusha
So you are saying that a click on the same ad on 23:59:59 is worth less than click on 00:00:01

    How is this possible?

OK but what about international advertisers, or is there only one time zone used in adsense/adwords for all?

    Exactly...

    See this example...
Assume we have 6 advertisers for a keyword "Laptop"

Sample advertisers with their corresponding bidding amt /click cost.....
    A - $1.5/click ($50)
    B - $1.0/click ($40)
    C - $85/click ($35)
    D - $65/click ($25)
    E - $45/click ($20)
    F - $30/click ($15)

in this case, Advertiser A is the one who reaches the /day bidding limit first, which u were gettin $1.5/click at the start of the day... Once $50 is done.. The ad for "A" is no longer displayed...

So.. the cost per click drops to $1 and so on ...

Also, location where the click happens also matter... Clicks from Asia pay less than the ones than happen on UK n US .. that's primarily becoz most high paying advertisers are from UK n US and limit their ad display to these regions alone..

More like NY time? I'd think it would be more like NY time, the center of American commerce (Wall Street and all that)? Just a thought. I have no idea.

Right. It's definitely PST, then. That's why Google's Adsense Earnings report doesn't recycled until 2:00 a.m. over here where it's CST. Should figure. :?

Smartpricing kills everybodys revenue... happened the same to me... it seems that by updating your site you can avoid this though... or just my experience..

I tend to believe that is not true, on my sites each page has at least 20% of random content and still smart pricing is as hurtful as ever.

Also Jim, as you get more traffic and more clicks it will all average out to be pretty stable. I am guessing you are getting under 100 clicks daily to have such huge fluctuation.

the more sites you have, the less fluctations you will see (normally).
also, the more stabile categories, the less fluctations.
weekends tend to be lower in most sectors IMHO.
end of month will generally be lower PPC earnings.

    hope this helps ;)
