Hi, My daily budget is $500 since last week, but I pay just € 40/day (although my CTR is more than 2%). What can I do to increase my traffic? Thanks!
You can put them into separate adgroups. Also, what's your ad position? You could try split-testing more ads to get a higher CTR and move up in ad position which should increase your clicks.
Working the word 'Scam' into some of your ad campaigns might do the trick! It is a red flag word that people dive on. Do you have your ads loaded with common keywords so that these will be boldened when the search term is used? This might get you more traffic if your ads stand out a bit more. D.
What position are you appearing in? A CTR of 2% is good in 8th position (in which case, you could consider increasing your bids - you'll pay more per conversion, but get more conversions), but in 2nd position, it's not very good (in which case, I'd strongly suggest split-testing new adverts, to find new ones that work better). Ultimately though, if not many people are looking for the product/service that you offer, then you won't get much traffic from PPC. If they are, then you need to bid on what they search for...
There's a couple of things you could try... You can go through and delete those keywords that don't have any impressions in the last month and then add more keywords. You could raise your bids and then once the traffic increases slowly scale it back. You can try different search engines - Yahoo, MSN, Looksmart and ABC Search are worth a try. You could also look at your ads - assuming you're already split-testing 2 variations you could go through each ad group and see which is performing best, turn off the other ad and then see if you can come up with something that does even better than your original. You could build more links to your landing page with the keywords you are targeting as the anchor text and see if Google then values it higher and gives you more traffic. Hope that helps! Jill
I'm sure there are a lot more keywords that'll directly relate to your campaign that you haven't thought of yet.. what is your website so we could help you with some suggestions?
First of all, thank you guys for your help! @ vesparich and CustardMite: my ad position is 3-2 and my CTR is about 2%. I tried split-testing and deleted the ads that didn’t work very well. @ Fatherspirit: yes, my keyword appears in bold when the search term is used @espresso: If I delete those keywords that didn’t have any impressions in the last month, will that increase my CTR? @ puremonopoly: thanks, very nice of you, but the website is in French ;-) Other suggestions are always welcome .
@espresso: If I delete those keywords that didn’t have any impressions in the last month, will that increase my CTR? I was just reading about this today. One guy deleted all the non-performing keywords and His CPC (Cost Per Click) went down by about 20%. Your CTR may not improve all that much for the performers but if you can get those bids down and not jeopardize your ad position then you are on a winner! Good Luck!
Yes, create separate ad groups. Not only will it keep your CTR level, it is also great for testing and seeing what works.
With the creation of alternative ads you want to keep a close eye on the stats when testing unless you have the 'show the best performing ad' option checked. Test for awhile, maybe a week or so but rid yourself of any bad performers. I'm not sure of how many alternative ads you can have but I know I tried six for one campaign. D.
The split-test will increase my CTR and give my traffic a boost, but I don't think I'll reach my daily budget with this method...
My daily budget is $500 since last week [/QUOTE] $500 a day for a daily budget? (Have you set it at this level because Adwords gave you this figure for the 'estimated daily budget' needed?) Wow! Are You a Vanderbilt or something? That's a lot of moolah! If you want to reach your daily budget then maybe you should start up more ad groups and try promoting products in a really hungry niche! You can send your CTR skyrocketing if you make successful bids on super popular keywords and get a first page ad placement. Sometimes this is easier to do than what you might think. The problem with this is you just may get up around your daily budget total but the conversion rate is likely to be lousy! If you are gunning for $500 a day daily budget then you will probably have to market an extremely HOT product or two! I know with Clickbank.net you can do a popularity search for the best selling products. Jumping on #1 and using lots of popular and relevant keywords to the product sell page will probably send your CTR through the roof as long as your CPC bid was up to Google's asking price. I hope that You achieve success with your ad campaigns! Regards, Dave.
If you're in 2nd - 3rd, and only 2% are clicking on your advert, can you guess where the other 98% are going? Try the search yourself (using www.google.com/adpreview), and look at the results. Where would you click? What is making your advert stand out? If you're bidding on all of the relevant terms, and are appearing in a high position, there are no more impressions to be had. So focus on converting the impressions into (qualified) clicks. If 2% is really the highest you can get, then there's no more traffic to be had...
Use the keyword tool to find some more keywords. Focus on phrase and exact targetting as these will get you the most bang for your buck. Let the keyrods run for a bit. Many people delete non-performers after only a few clicks. Good luck! -Patz
try using more related keywords try increasing cpc try making more different ad groups test different keywords, related keywords
Improve the relevency of your ads. Google AdWords is all about relevency. Do not just add more keywords. That's bad advice.
My main suggestion is that when you are testing (constantly test btw) DON'T Delete or Edit the non converting ads! Simply pause them, that way you can reference back to what worked and what didn't by making google show you all the Clicks and Impressions since you've had the acct. I figured that one out the hard way What happens if down the road you want to look at all the stats from all of your different ad groups. Than you get all messed up and feel like you have to start all over. If you pause them, than at least you can unpause them, if you find out that 1 ad did have a higher CTR than the one you are currently using. I personally use a weeks time frame and look over my ads every week and re-write the one that isn't converting (only have 2 ads per adgroup running, that way you get an accurate test) and just pause the one that had better CTR
