It was defiantly a clever marketing scheme going on to promote the movie. One thing for sure it, this book should have neverr been made into a movie. I am pretty open minded and give things a chance. However, this movie is a total waste of money. I wish I downloaded this movie, but even then I would probably complain because it would be a total waste of time as well. Tom Hanks didn't do a great job because he just didnt fit the role for some reason. It's a pretty long movie and I hated it! Although I did laugh in the end not because the movie is funny (obviously), but because I fell into the hype like a sucker and bought a ticket.
I was thinking of going but decided not to waste money on it. Can you tell me if they stayed true to the story or did Hollywood add more crap to that hade nothing to do with the book?
I haven't seen the movie, but I can tell you one thing for sure, Hollywood *always* adds in more crap that has nothing to do with the book - no matter the book. Is the book worth reading? Can't decide if I should read it or not.
I red the book and can say that if you like that sort of thing it is really good. The only problem is that people can’t separate fiction from real life. Dan Brown is only cashing in on peoples stupidity. Most people will like the book because it’s well written and contains a lot of interesting details “not facts†that keeps the reader interested.
I think it's still fair to say that some of the details in the book are not necessarily not facts, just ideas that will be very difficult to prove. I used to know the author of The Da Vinci Code Decoded (before he suddenly died last year... quite mysterious) and wow, he was pretty convinced, and convincing. Pick up his book for more info about it all, he pretty much devoted years of his life to this end and even started a society. Author: Martin Lunn.
I did buy a similar book but can’t remember the author. From what I understand you believe these theories “facts†to be true? I saw a documentary a few days ago and they basically demystified all of Dan Brown’s theories as being folklore.
Who made the documentary I must ask? I don't know, I don't believe it necessarily, but there's certainly a lot of his theories that can't be disproved due to lack of evidence either way. It's a lot of years of history during which time the church had the power to hide and cover things up. At the same time it's been a while since I was all into this stuff and my ideas about it are really just that, ideas. I'm going to the movie in a couple hours anyway . Maybe it'l refresh my mind.
I don't know how The Da Vinci Code issues got so distorted, but the book is a fictional tale based upon theories. I never thought it was intended to prove anything at all. The holy bloodline theories were put forth several years prior to the writing of The Da Vinci Code by other authors who did try to present their information as a probable reality. Dan Brown's book is a fictional tale wrapped around historical facts and a few theories. The marvelous part of the story is how he intertwines the two. Michener did the same thing with his historical novels. BTW, if you enjoyed The Da Vinci Code, read Angels and Demons, which is a similar tale, also by Dan Brown. IMHO, it is a much better story than The Da Vinci Code and would have made a more interesting movie.
I read a quarter of the book, and realised it was a load of crap, so i wouldnt waste my money paying to see the film.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but i read the reviews and most of them said its a long movie and intolerable as well. I would watch it on DVD some Saturday night.
Okay, just got back from seeing it. My brief verdict: If you've read the book, then it's very true to the story. Perhaps excessively so for a movie. And this is the problem. It's a much better book than movie. Best thing: seeing all the places in Europe without having to track them down yourself. Angels and Demons: makes for a great trip to Rome. I highly recommend it.
thought the book was great, but it kinda suck when you see know what's gonna happen next and all, so the movie for me is not that good but it's ok for a night out.
I thought that the supporting actors did their jobs very well, but that the two protagonists were both miscast. The movie was long and insufficiently entertaining.
I read the book and it seemed to be alright. The movie seems to be fine too, but I haven't seen it yet. I have an question....is the movie anything like the book?
Sorry, but The DaVinci Code was NOT well written....Dan Brown is a hack. Just read any other of his books, he recycles his plots and characters
