Any tips for cutting out an object in a picture? What is the best photoshop tool to use? Would like to cut something from a picture I've taken to use for a website header. Anything I can do while taking the picture to make it easy to cut it out later?
If you are running Windows Vista and possibly 7 you can use the snipping tool, save it then use Paint or Gimp to edit it.
Jesus, Can't believe I've never even heard of the snipping tool! I am still used to the Print Screen method. Learn something everyday I guess. Much appreciated. Will give it a shot
There are many options depending upon the contrast between the background and subject. You can use the Lasso tools (L), magnetic or polygonal.. or simply the Magic Wand (W) if the background has simple colors. Try playing with its tolerance value. Abhimanyu
I usualy just go round the object I want to cut out with the paint brush, then use the magic eraser to remove the paintbrush marking.
Magic Eraser, Anti Aliasing off (Generally) - Experiment with it. You can neaten it up by playing about with the effects. It's just what I usually do.
Use the magic wand mate! Also, sometimes Fireworks is easier to use for this kind of stuff and you can just select the image. Like Jasonme said, Magic Eraser is pretty cool too but I think you have to buy that.
there are different tool in photoshop like Lasso tool Magic tool or slicing tool to cut picture ,its up to you which tool best for using
If I'm doing a quick mock-up of something I'll use the wand tool, but if you want something to look professional, like cutting out an image, always use the pen tool. Cut it out large before shrinking it and it will always look better.
