but it seems cutenews is disappearing....... is that because they do not use sql table?

Yes as Mentioned my Anakyn go to the link he provided... Yes you can migrate the old Text DB to the New MySql version with the built in wizard...

 

I've used it in one of my site.Its good.
It will be better if you customize the page.

 

CuteNews is pretty cool. Ive never used it for more than managing news on the frontpage of my static site. Once I needed to go beyond that, I moved over to a full CMS (Joomla).

 

I want to ask something I've been wondering for a long time. Do you register as a member to add coments and stuff onto a cutenews site? or do you post as a guest (if i can put it that way).
Do members log in to post? in other words... does it work like a guest book or do you have a member database? If so, is it possible to integrate a database into a vbulletin forum?

Can you create different categories so that sertain news are displayed on different pages?

 

-To comment on CN, you can either set that only members can comment but by default every visitor can comment.

- You can have a guestbook page, but every News Entry has a Comment option, and yes, members are stored in the database, if they comment, so are there comments.

- if you custom code it, its possible to use the members db in CN to be integrated to vBulletin

- Yes you can assign as many categories as you want, and you can customize where you want to show it, or organize each entry.

theres no plugin as of yet, but you can hack aways the source to plug it in. Why dont you request it in the cutenews.ru forums, if you want a gallery, theres a plugin for those in the forum as well...

 

I find cute news to be very limited to my needs, so i never use it .

 

Does any one succefully update the old new.txt form, to sql form.

Is that easy, do you have any experience to share......

Or anyone can do that for me for a small fee.

I love CuteNews at the moment I don't have it on any sites but it is shown in action on kokirikids.com

 

Its easy to update it, but needs minor editing in formatting afterwards.... Just follow instructions at the cutenews.ru migrating topic...

 

why do they change their website .ru??
