I'm sure some of you have heard this before... for me it was new. Today I got a typical letter in the mail stating that there are positions open for a job at Vector marketing. It said $15.25 base/appt which means base per appointment. So, I figured I would go ahead, call them up and schedule an interview. Ok they tell me to be there at 6:00 PM. I drove to a local office, walked in, and the office looks like crap BTW, simply a small room and a big room attached to it. They make you fill out an application (actually a pre-interview form but they call it an application) and then sit you in the big room with a bunch of other people. You sit there for about two hours listening to rap music (how odd) and someone talk and destory 3 pennies, and then you get another paper to fill out about what you would bring to the company, etc... Then you get called in pairs of 4 at a time into the boss's office. Supposively the place is #8 in the entire company (which it isn't) blah blah blah, etc... Then the boss hires you, not looking at the application, doesn't even take the time to read it. That's it, you have to show back up at 3 days training WHICH YOU DON'T GET PAID FOR! They promised that you wouldn't have to do cold calling, but how do you expect to make any sales of knives? They're pricing is outrageous, and you literally have to pay them in order to sell their products. You have to put a $200 deposit (what kind of Teenager will have this kind of money upfront?) on a demo set, and then what? You have to show it to your family and force them to give you recommendations of at least 10 people so you can bug those 10 people, and guess what? They left it out of the paper, you only get paid the base pay IF they either buy OR if Vector approves of the appointment. If they thought the appointment was a joke when it was real, you don't get paid! What about Gas and stuff you have to use in order to get to these appointments? You're not gonna get re-imbursed for it. So, if you do get that letter in the mail stating there are opportunities available as a graduate, I advise against calling and even going. Don't get sucked into this great con game. I have decided to not go further on. Oh and read this too if you want: http://www.vegsource.com/talk/pressure/messages/58097.html
told you stroh....didn't tell evan since he wanted to think it was something, but as you can see we warned you about it being a joke company and your right who has $200(teenager wise) upfront unless their parents set aside money for them when they were younger or have it in the bank... all i got to say is good thing that i didn't have anything to do with it when i find them in the newspaper...
