Cut the Cost of PPC Campaigns in Half

I keep seeing this mistake / question / frustration popping up over and over again and just thought I'd share a quick solution to those of you who get frustrated with the fact that you are paying $40 in PPC ads for every sale of a $50 product.

Here's the trick, don't go for click through rate, go for targeted clickers. And you can do that by listing the price in your ad. Here's an example:

    Learn Guitar Fast
Ultra quick method to learn to play guitar from the pros!
    www.guitarfast.com

    Learn Guitar Fast
Quickly learn to play guitar from the pros, just $79.
    www.guitarfast.com

Some of you may cringe when you see that second one, but think about who is NOT going to click on that ad. Well, all the people that aren't willing to pay $79 for a product.

I guess the quickest way to sum this all up, is don't pay for people to come to your site just to find out the price (one of the most common things clickers are looking for). When you list the price in your ads you'll find you get a big decrease in clicks but your sales will hardly change if they do at all.

nice tip! Emphasizing your pricing upfront can definitely serve to streamline your visits. I would caution, however, that this works best if your pricing is competitive or better than that of your competition.

I agree with 7searchguys, if your price is considerably higher you will get no clicks. That eliminates the opportunity to pre-sell them by getting them to you page. With that said, this is a good strategy to eliminate tire kickers.

Good point darwinstudios, however, if you are trying to get them to an upsell page you aren't going to be changing a lot for the initial product so that wouldn't apply.

Actually 7searchguys, it works for any pricing situation. The reason for it is because you are no longer paying for people to click on your link just to find out the price. No matter what your price, when you remove the clicks that are just doing that, you'll save a ton of money.
