I have order a couple of international items (electronics) from ebay. One shipping from honk Kong priced 46 usd and the other from Thailand at 63 USD.

Will they be stopped at any custom houses, and make me pay extra money for release?

Cmon guys seriously, someone might know somethig about custom brokerage.and how it is applied.

Can anyone give me at least some general infromation on when you are obliged to pay fees to custom broking in order for your internationally purchased order to be released?

it depends of your country rules. if you`re from UE and you ordered goods from non UE country most likely you will pay some fees but not so much because the prices you bought your stuff are low. As for US i heard people that paid custom taxes for recieving goods from China and others didn`t, don`t know for shure.

Thank you for the update.Well i'm from UE indeed. So if i have to pay, will i have to go to the custom house myself and do that,or will i pay the fees when the package is delivered on my door?

i don`t think the package will be delivered at your door. my friend went to the custom house and there they opened the package to see what`s inside and had some kind of catalogue and based on the prices in there they took a fee, like 10% of the price of the stuff. fees are different in each country

I see.Well at least if thats the case are you notified ,or do you have to make an inquiry on your own,in order to realise that you have to make a trip down to the customs house?

How did your friend decide he/she had to go to the customs house?

Ok.So anyway i asked around specifically, concerning my country and i learned that if package is under 45 dollars then there's certainly not a problem, but if its over than that, you must address the seller to ship it as gift and label the price under 45,so you dont have to pay any fees.

I sent him a message and i hope he will come though, cause i would really hate to pay extra.

Well anyway i guess that's that,so i'll just have to wait and see what happens.Thank you for your participation.

Things upto 6000 INR and marked as gifts are free of customs duty in India. (of course prohibited items not allowed)

    I don't know where you're located...so can't comment specifically.

On another note, will registering a package on lower price cause any inconvenience to a seller?Cause i want to buy something else this time near to a 100usd and the seller denied my request to register it at 45 usd when shipping it.What harm could that possibly cause to him,for doing that?

Ok, so I made some further inquiries and I got another piece of information stating, that if item is sent to you via post office,it almost never ends up being checked at the customs house, while when delivered via courier services,it's next to impossible to avoid a check up.

Which kind are the following shipping methods?

    USPS Priority Mail InternationalTM
    USPS Express Mail InternationalTM

Cause that's what I'm usually end up ordering. There's no courier service involved right? Is it all Post-Office assignments?
