customizing wordpress as a CMS

I would like to remove the "leave a comment" window from the pages on my wordpress blog...as I am using it as a CMS and don't need this option (and it only confuses people and clutters the page).

Can someone tell me which file and which line of code to remove to eliminate the comment window?

I would also like to change the title in the sidebar...for example I don't need the title Categories...it's obvious thats what they are. Also I would like to change "blogroll" to links...as none of my links are to blogs.

What is the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help :D

Firstly to use wordpress as a cms, you should go for a magazine theme. Check out my site for an example. Leaving out the comments really is not my favorite move ever, but then again I enjoy the interaction. To change the blogroll, simply take it off completely and name a text widget as 'links' or whatever you want it to be. Personally I don't use a blogroll but put my links in a separate page altogether. Also, to change the categories name simple select the widget and click edit, delete the lines that say categories in the widget title. To deactivate comments, go to your dashboard, general, discussions, untick allow discussion/comments and it will disappear itself.

I figured out the blogroll situation...but I still cant get the comment windows removed from the pages. I tried "To deactivate comments, go to your dashboard, general, discussions, untick allow discussion/comments and it will disappear itself." but it did not remove the comment window.

    any other suggestions?
