i have a site, i moved from a usa server to a uk, as thats my target country

was showing up on page one in the USA, hence the reason for the move, however its now been cached in the uk

i was on page 50 for my phrase in the uk, an page one in the USA and now im no where in the uk, an higher up page one in USA

anyone any tips? is this a normal process when moving country?

Normally I don't see site getting deindexed when I moved to a different host. Are you able to find the site with site:domain? Just continue your link building and you should see the site back on SERPs.

Continue your seo and the website should come back again. You can always submit your website for reinclusion if you don't see any results after a while

i suspect it being a temporary issue. sometimes whem you make changes to your site and start doing major link building, things like this happen and gets taken care of over time.

I think what BobChrist is asking is "did you change the domain/file names in anyway?" If you did, then it will require being reindexed again, PR being added and new links being generated.

Or is it just moving one site hosted in the US to a UK hosting company? Then are both sites running at the same time? This will cause duplicate content.

Work on getting some links from relevant UK sites. That should help a little. :D

Have you tried the "Set geographic target" in webmaster tools?
Seems like it would be easier than changing hosts. (not sure how affective it is because I have never used it)

    Cheers

I agree with snowbird's recommendation about getting links from relevant UK websites. I'm thinking that a lot of your links probably come from US based websites. In my opinion, the location of your linking websites is more important than where your site is actually hosted.

For the most part this is correct however if you sell cars for example in the UK its very senseless to show well in the .com SERP when you would want to show well in .co.uk

Another reason to move to the new host is the site will load faster for the target market who happen to reside in the UK.

Google and other search engines return results based on users IP and keyword search terms. So correct geo location is important.

For example using a search engine when looking for a truck axle in New York, it is very unlikely the search engine would return results for California based truck axle suppliers.

I would agree links from relevant UK sites, as well as some patience for Google to clear the old data and reindex the new... will help the site settle.
