Custom Word Press Theme - Don't want to be scammed

Hi Everyone,

What is the going rate for a fully customised and unique Word Press Theme? And are there good companies or am I better just buying one from DP? By customised I mean made to my specifications from scratch?

 

Thanks for this thread. I had the same question in mind. I'm looking to have a custom wordpress theme built to fit my specific requirements but there are way too many con artists out there. How does one recognize a good company?

Usually if you want something from scratch, see if the designer/coder has a portfolio. They tend to be a good representation of how legitimate they are. Yes, in the past few years, there have been those who turned malicious all of a sudden, but it is highly unlikely. I'd say the going rate for a full custom from scratch is anything from $200 and up. Recently Zelda Universe got theirs done for $2000...

Coding wise, $100-$200 for your average blog theme. If you require "non standard" stuff then it'd be more.

Design wise, well, they price everywhere

Absolutely. You might have seen many people selling WordPress themes, but the only thing they sell is a screenshot. They give you the design, and not the codes.

 

Yes. 99% of designers who code, don't do that good a job. Have you heard the saying: Jack of all trades, master of none?

If you go to a specialist designer, then a specialist coder, you'll get a better job all-round than someone who does everything.

 

Sure. Those are to separate processes.
