I've read these various articles about custom segmentation to filter out certain traffic from your site:

    http://www.kaushik.net/avinash/2006/05/excellent-analytics-tip2-segment-absolutely-everything.html
    http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3351231
    http://cutroni.com/blog/2006/07/25/custom-segmentation-with-google-analytics/

Now despite all this information i'm still not succeeding in filtering our test-purchases by our developers from my google analytics E-commerce results.

Has anyone here ever used custom segmentation to filter out the traffic from certain machines (using the custom segmentation cookie value) Including the e-commerce results?

ps. if the __umsetvar parameter is set multiple times during a visitors journey trough our webpages, this would mean that the value is overwritten right?

pps. If i try to exclude myself from the analysis data by using custom segmentation filters, how often would i have to re-set the cookie to contain the string i’m filtering for? How often do you reset your custom segment cookie value ?

The way I use it is to use php to ignore all transactions with my name as the customer name.

I just realised that i made a critical mistake with setting the cookie variable... i ran the page that sets this cookie from my desktop, while i should have ran it from the site that i want it to apply to...

I'm waiting for analytics to fill up with data from after the change to see results!

I'm also hardcoding an exception for my username so i can see if this custom segment works like it should at the flip of a switch.

Thanks for the help so far, any additional information about the subject is always welcome!
