I am trying to figure out from the TOS if it is ok to use my own form to capture search queries and then send those queries to my Google Custom Search page. Does anyone know if this is acceptable? Basically I have a gadget w/ a very small piece of real estate to be used for a search query (smaller than the Google widget will allow) & I will pop a new page when the user hits "search." Is it ok?
It's for AdSense For Search? If it is, no modifications to the code whatsoever. If there is no modification, I would ask the AdSense team just to be sure. If you want more control, http://www.fka200.com/2007/12/27/step-by-step-tutorial-to-make-money-with-google-coop Use Google Co-op.
you cannot generate your own script and custom code the search box. its against TOS. you need to generate the code from your adsense account setup and cannot modify the code once generated.
Sorry for being imprecise. Yes, it is using Google Coop / "Custom Search Engine." I need to modify the search input. Basically, I want to throw out Google's search input code and have a text area that captures the search query. Then open a new window to the search results page w/ googles' provided search results code in it.
If it's Co-op, do whatever you please.* I've asked them before if I could modify the Co-op code and they said yes. AdSense doesn't have anything to do directly with the Co-op CSE, instead, it is just an association. *Not held responsible for any future problems... just in case.
