If you have any questions, please let me know. The Project FlightOwl has been designed and coded into CSS. It’s time to add the functionality and bring this live flight tracker website to life. Project is to code these two pages so the website is able to track flights. Mandates * Use only official data source - no sketchy third parties. The FAA does have an XML feed. Ideally the feed can be updated with new information every one minute. At a minimum feeds should update every 15 minutes. * Be able to scale and handle substantial traffic. * At a minimum, include data for the top 10 US airlines by # of passengers. * Automatic refresh every 1 minute. * Design the site in a way that allows for more data sources to be added in the future - ie scalable code. For example, feeds directly with the airlines. Pages - only 2 pages require development work * Home page - http://flightowl.com/ o Dropdown of airlines and a text field for flight number o Map is just an image, no coding required * Flight information page - http://flightowl.com/main.html o Map + Use Bing maps if possible, otherwise Google maps. + Include a pin at the starting and end location. + Overlay weather radar. + Include the blue jet icon. + Line from starting point to end point and following the expected route. o Right rail + Includes information about the flight.
