I have a two year old blog. Its a wordpress and it generates the page link. I have recently read that a blog link with words would be better. example: www.mysite/blog/best_blog_in_world vs. www.mysite/blog/pg=3 or whatever it generates If its www.mysite/blog/best_blog_in_world I have a few more questions. If I change it now it will break all my internal links. All of the pages are indexed in the search engines. Is it still worth it going through and rebuilding links or posts that refer to each other. Is there a way to just have it do it going forward? Thank you ahead of time for the help
Yes do it now, it's worth it. As for breaking links, it really depends... Wordpress will automatically change the ones of the article (so if you're viewing a search for an article, it will change the links according to your new link structure). However, if inside your article or template you link to some old permalink then no that will not be changed, and will be broken. Hope that helps... but like I said, it's worth changing it. Just take it as a live and learn type lesson and in the future start off with the good permalinks
Wont it kill my seo as well with the internal links now being broken? I have lots of links on forums and such going to posts? Just want to make sure I am not messing myself up big time. Thanks again for the help
