My hosting provider has given me default nameservers as example: ns1.hosting.com 190.234.23.4 ns2.hosting.com 201.450.11.2 I create a shared hosting account through reseller panel and should use the default IPs for my custom nameservers, BUT what if I use the server IP directly (A record IP)? I've tried it in the past and sites worked, but the support said it's not right and my site could go offline. My aim is to hide footprints of the hosting provider, SO my question is... Technically, would it be OK to use the server IP (A record) directly with my custom NS? Thanks!
Because you are just basically redirecting all requests to go to the set A record IP rather than having the IP actually set in your domains DNS. You can do either, but setting up nameservers and having your domain use them is the best method.
I think it is possible to make ns1.yourdomain.com Cname record to ns1.hosting.com. If not just make your own NS pointers with A record with your own domain. should work
All of above suggestions are good but simply; 1. You can use the domain's A record for your private NS; for that 2.Go to your domain's DNS zone, create an A entry for ns1 and ns2 pointing to that IP address and save. Thats All dude Enjoy the days
