Custom Duty in India?

i recently purchased computer accessories from USA costing $117 including shipping, weighing 7Lbs (3.1kg). upon arrival in india/bangalore i received a notice from foreign post office to produce bills/technical write-up for the same. after producing necessary documents they said i would be paying customs once it is received to my local post office. going through many blogs & customs website i noted that ther are no customs if the purchases are below ten thousand rupees incase of gift & upto Rs 2500 if bought. now i am in confusion as to my purchases would attract customs or not as the purchase amount is way below Rs 10k. i did like to know what would be the duty payable if any & also would the weightage of the package add up to the duty?

foolishly while placing the order i put a comment to the merchant, heres my exact comment requesting the merchant.....

"hi please ship the packages as GIFT to avoid any possible customs in my country. would appreciate if you could declare the overall cost of the order under $75 (including shipping costs) while shipping to avoid any taxation in which case do not include the bills in the shippment"

i have seen many merchants including the invoice (along with the ORDER DETAILS) sticking above the package or inside. i do not know yet if my current order shipment includes the invoice inside/above the package. if included then maybe while processing my package by the customs officials they have noticed my comments & maybe this has prompted them to take action? i do not knw....

also i have seen articles/customs website talking abt computers (entire desktop), laptops, electronic goods but none that talk about only computer peripherals & applicable taxes/duties, surprising to knw no clause's specific to computer peripherals/component/parts have been framed yet!!

plz help me what do you think th applicable duty would be i did really appreciate it thank u in advance
