Current Relation between Pagerank and number of indexed Pages

This is a question in regards to a 7 year old post I picked up on WWW:

Which sites get the most pages indexed?
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/4455.htm

According the the 1st post, it seems that back then there weren't many sites which had a PR5 / PR6 and more than 20k pages indexed. (not necessarily something I am convinced of)

What PR do you think is needed today to have 100k pages indexed?

I don't think a minimum PR would be required. I think it would be more about having a very good internal link structure combined with a healthy distribution of PR. If you get most of your links to your homepage you probably would need a fairly high PR to get that many pages indexed. If you make a point of getting links to lots of your internal pages you should have no problem getting that many pages indexed.

I have a PR2 site with 500k indexed pages , so I do not think you need a high pr.

I am really liking that flash keyword cloud :)
hmmm ...one could argue that your site may shoot up to a PR5 with the next update.

Thanks! The site also had 500k indexed pages a year ago, when it was PR1 and did not have a blog / backlinks.

The PR is not a criterion to get your pages indexed and indexing is an issue every webmaster wants to get clarified. Let your web pages be accessible to the bots and let them be meaningful to the visitors for faster indexing...

Have you provide Google sitemap on your website? for me, that's the best way to index fast by Google Robot

This is pretty darn impressive. I dont think there are a lot of low PR sites out there with that many pages indexed. I don't know what your secret is but ...Congrats! Well done!

Did the indexing progress gradually or did you notice any spikes such as a jump from 200K to 300K?

I built the site and then forgot about it. Half a year later I noticed that it got some visitors, at that time it already had the 500k. But somehow it got stuck at that number, there are 300k pages that have not been indexed - so maybe you are right with the limit.

There is no relation. I have 2 sites, 0 PR (are new sites) and both shows thousands of indexed pages. One of that sites is receiving (90% from Google) something like 9k daily visitors.

Are you sure these are unique visitors and not hits?

IMO, its the unique content which does the trick. There's no/very less relation between Pagerank and Indexed Page.

I thought, the higher your PR is, the deeper you are crawled. So if you have a lot of deep pages, these are picked up and indexed faster.

I don't think that unique content and Google Sitemap alone will do the trick.
I can think of other explanations for Smaaz site too. He might have picked up a high PR link which he then lost over the time.

    bump ...

does anybody else think that there is no relation between PR and the # of indexed pages?

Smaaz gave a very good example. But his site also falls out of the norm IMO. Does anybody else here have a PR1 or PR2 site with 500K pages or more indexed?
