Hi, I currently use Actinic to design all my e-commerce website for customers it is costing £400 per copy to give my customers and although i do like the program i would rather not have to pay out that much. What would you recommend with similar functionality to use but either a lot cheaper or free? I like the ease of implementation of actinic into design so that would have to be a feature that is carried over. Thank you in advance for your replies. Cheers, Adam
I think my first ecommerce package was Actinic, that was really sometime ago. But nowadays I would recommend Oscommerce, open source has really spring up and is catching up on the established software.
Oscommerce seems pretty popular with most of the webmasters. Haven't used it myself but I have read many good reviews about it.
I have dabbled with oscommerce before but did not seem the easiest program to work with when integrating a design.
I also use oscommerce. You can buy pretty good templates for $70-100 and if you have a bit of php experience, you can work oscommerce to do pretty much anything. It's free so I would recommend it.
Well thats the usual problem with open source, they aren't as easy to configure as a paid one, that could be working out of the box with little integration efforts. But paying someone to skin oscommerce etc will still be cheaper than Actinic.
