Have a two year old site that generates between 9500 - 12000 unique visitors per day depending on the day of the week. Registered until 2008. Ranked #1 in Google, Yahoo, and MSN for a 24,000 search per day keyword according to Overture traffic stats. Domain would include all site content. All incoming links are permanent and several are from major sites including aol.com and MTV.com. Music related site with all hand written original content. PR5, but has been as high as PR6 for several months. Generates an average of $2200 per month since August of 2005. Primarily Adsense, then Amazon, then Commision Junction last in order or revenue. Could make more, but I am out of ideas. I'm sure a better marketing person could do a great job with it. I have attached May 2006 stats.
I thought the answer to this was incredibly obvious, but I will gladly spell it out for anyone who is interested. If I can get 18 months revenue in one lump sum now, why would I ever care to wait the next 18+ months to generate it? Hmm lets see, $39,600 in cash in my hand, or wait 2 years..... Hmm... $39,600 or wait two years..... Plus there is no way that the niche my site is in will shrink, so the revenue will continue to increase. Its a great buy for a webmaster with some cash laying around. My business is building insurance sites, this music site was an experiment that I really could care less about when it comes to my business. I don't need it, nor does it have anything to do with any other site I have ever built. Secondly, I'm not going to give away the name. This isn't an official auction, this is just an appraisal of the site based off its revenue and traffic. The domain by itself is pretty worthless, its the SERP's that it holds that create all the value. The site has a beautiful design, but by itself is worthless as well. All appraisals for this site are going to be 100% based on revenue and traffic, period.
Nobody is going to "appraise" your site without seeing it.... otherwise what is there to appraise? It's also the reason nobody else is posting here. All you are really asking is.... "how many month's of your stated Adsense revenue is someone willing to pay you for your site?" Why didn't you just say that?
For the same reason people hold on to investments: long term income. Not that I don't see your side. Search engine results can vanish in a moment. If you are are hoping for that kind of high multiple (more than 12 months) then eBay may be your best venue. There is no better "appraisal" than someone with cash in hand. You might find a buyer there willing to give far more. Or not. eBay is such a fickle place on which to sell. Richard
