Hey I have been thinking through this, but still cant figure out whether its good or no in regards to SEO. Ok, imagine we have a site that has some text on the homepage. It is a travel site. The home page text is generic. But, lets say we put a script on the site that if the visitor is from UK, he gets UK specific text and some latest news from UK. The other user who is from USA, get USA specific text on the homepage and some latest news from USA, and so on.... So, the content is unique, and in addition it is IP based. In terms of user friendliness I think it also matters, since the users from UK do not have to search the UK section and they have it on the first page of the site. So its a plus. Now, lets get to search engines. How good or bad could this reflect on the positioning of the site in the search engines? From one point its good, since if the Google DC is lets say in USA, it will cash the USA related content and the Google.co.uk will cache the UK related content. And since Google has the IP based results you will be on top positions for your regional indexes. But from the other point, what if Google messes up what you have in mind ? This may get you ranked totally wrong. Did anyone have such an experience ?
