This new search engine seems that will become popular.
Maybe its time to start finding how to optimize pages for it.

    Any idea?

Im already on it. I have tons of proxies, and I use the catch phrase "The Small Name Proxy" to promote them. If you search cuil for those terms then all my proxies ad other sites of mine show up on the first page. :D

I've just been reading about it over the last 24 hours or so. It sounds pretty cuil.

yeah, be as irrelevant to your target phrase as possible ;-)

it's two days old and has a long long way to go before it takes any market share. i'm not worrying about it just yet

it looks quite interesting.. very much like the tabs at the top. But i'm thinking its a bit 'all over the place' with results being gridded over the page.

    Anyone optimising for this?

I doubt it's worth optimizing for because it's a terrible search engine. Ok it seems that search results have gotten better over the past few days... but the initial quality of the search results were very low. e.g. on some searches, wikipedia clone sites will show up but the original wikipedia article will not.

I think, it's a beta version, but maybe If they will make some updates, it will be an interesting product.

I agree with baybossplaya - it brings back irrelevant search results and spam sites. They've really got to take a look at their algorithms. And the images that they use aren't even relevant either (I assume they were trying to pick up the site's main logo image - they've failed miserably IMO)

I tried Cuil a couple minutes a go and it will be probably last time that i tried it.
Because of Anna Patterson and Russell Power who worked on Google's search index in past i thought it will be worth trying but their concept, irrelevant search results en design is something that tell me about another useless search engine.

No way of optimising for cuil until it proves its mettle.
    Google is current market player.

I found it very much simple but i tried a few niche but couldn't find the specific things i was looking for. I believe Cuil just started their service , its looking quiet cool but obviously not enough to challenge Google Inc.

Definitely keen to give Cuil a chance. I'm sure Google had problems when they first started out and it's definitely good to create competition.

(I'm still none the wiser about the current importance/ relevance of Google PRs. If we have more competition it may force them to clarify the issue, as the arena becomes more service orientated.)

Useful article. To compete with Google you have to be prepared to go bigger and better.

I think Cuil sounds pretty promising and it's obvious that not everything is going to be immediately fine tuned but it's certainly worthy of support.

I am not going to even try to optimize for it because I myself would not use it and Google already does everything just about as good as you could do it and is entrenched with the regular people on the internet which is the main part that will be coming to our websites unless its an SEO or Make Money Online website. Either way Cuil is a terrible search engine.

    Hello,
I was looking around cuil, it is different than Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc, maybe this will take time to be one of the top ten search engine, really I prefer Google or Yahoo design, but well time is time, maybe in a couple of months or years Cuil is more popular and I'll use it.

    Best,

The searches are not very precise at all.
Mixing a few words messes the search up completely.
THey should work on the result showings, since there is no way to "fast scan" as with google, yahoo etc.
It simply takes a lot longer to see what every link is about.

However new initiatives are always appreciated and challenges the market leaders and helps the revolutions.
