What do you think about cuil extinction? I know it is old news, but to me cuil was something really unique and with big chances of be in the top 3, after google and yahoo or in any order, but in top 3.

I really liked this search engine, I hope they will bring it back someday.

There was a lot of hype about cuil quite a while ago now that had the internet world buzzing with the whole google employee connection. It has since fizzled out. It is very difficult to remotely compete with the big ones like google, yahoo, and bing. I am all for competition, but don't think it can or ever will come close to competing with them.

Cuil started as a largest index of web sites by two ex googler's(guess they both are wife and husband). They thought of competing with other search engines. Initially due to the hype they gained lot of attention, later they faded out as in comparison to google they are no way performing better

They didn't fade out in comparison to google lol, there were other reasons. If that was the reason, then let's erase from the face of the earth bing, yahoo and altavista and many more, should we ?

Cuil lost alot of their search engine rankings. They are now close to 100k on Alexa
