While trying cuil search engine, I tried to search pune web design to check our rank on cuil.com Hurray, We are on top on this search engine as well but I noticed that they are displaying Infosys's logo next to our listing. I am sure that our website doesnt have Infosys logo anywhere, so I dont understand why this is happening. Check the attached image if you see different results in your region. Are they displaying any image which they seem fit with each result on their search engine? I found following topic on their FAQ page at http://www.cuil.com/info/faqs/#faq7 7. You have images beside your results. How do you pick which pictures to use? We know from our research that people can make better and quicker decisions about relevance and quality when they can see an image from the website. We do our best to take images from Web pages that accurately reflect the content of the website. Many websites are full of images, so we use advanced algorithms to determine the best image to show the user. Hmm, so from their description, Infosys logo matches our website. Interesting!!! I am sending them a message as well about this error. Just thought I should notify DP users as well. Cheers, Tony
imo is simple cuil haven't crawled images from your site also you dont have a image banner on your site
This is because their "advanced algorithms" don't include a basic check for which domain hosts the image. I would have thought that should be the first thing they'd check for. This flaw affects a lot of their results, and to be honest it's the first thing they should have fixed after everyone complained about it at their launch. It's so much better to show no image than a misleading one that could land them in legal trouble, after all.
it's because cuil is really a horrible search engine that got a lot of attention for no other reason then a few workers from google created it. The results are not relevant, the image next to each are very rarely related to the site (and seem to be just a random choice of images picked according to what they were tagged as according to cuil). The only redeeming quality is that it has a nice design.
come on CUIL wtf is this the name doesn't even sounds right who will remember cuil? google is much easier name to remember
I wouldn't even bother with it... I would spend more time trying to get to the top of msn for what traffic it will bring.
The Alexa and Compete traffic graphs are very telling. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/cuil.com http://siteanalytics.compete.com/cuil.com+ask.com/?metric=uv
