Ctr?

What is about the appropriate click through rate? I currently get about a click every 200 people or .5%

Is that normal? Now I understand that I really don't have many ads up and I the ads I do have up will not be seen unless you scroll down, other than 1. So is that an acceptable ctr?

    Ty for your time.

CTR 5% is pretty good. Quality sites won't get a higher CTR.
MadeForAdSense sites could get a much higher CTR though.

for me an acceptable CTR starts from 5%
I'm happy when it is over 10% and I don't want it to be over 30%

I don't put adsense on my sites for fun, I want to earn money.

I guess nobody noticed, but he said 0,5% (or one in two hundred as he calls it) not 5% .

Why would you not want the highest CTR possible? So long as it's all legit then you won't be penalised for it.

My main site gets around the 25% mark I would say which I'm very pleased about.

I got your point. Your 0.5% CTR is very low and the normal range is 2-5% and there are some who get even up to 10% CTR which is considered as excellent. The reasons for a lower CTR is (as suggested by you) ad placement. The ads should be placed at vantage points especially at the top of the page after some contents. The visitor will not scroll down deep to click your ads.
Medium and large rectangle ad formats perform very well. Suitable ad placement and blending the ads with the contents will work wonder for you. Just follow it and let us see how you progress.

I know what my sites look like, those who are in the 20-30% CTR range, so I wouldn't want to go above if I have to make them look even more spammy :)
