My CTR on my AdWords account is twice as high for search as it is for content... I am thinking I should axe the content, as it will raise my overall CTR and raise my standings... does this make sense???
If the clicks on the content distribution aren't hurting your pocketbook, they might be cost effective for branding purposes (ie., what's your CPM for them compared to a banner ad campaign?). It's been a while since I messed with it, but aren't the content ad impressions/clicks discounted from the CTR calculations?
Serg, I personally avoid running my ads on the *content* network. When I started with Adwords about 18 months ago, I did quite a bit of testing between search and content channels. Traffic coming from the *content* channel never converted nearly as well as the *search* channel traffic. Obviously, without conversion, CTR is a pretty meaningless number... I'd be curious on what others have seen in terms of conversion.
it depends on your offering, sometimes content driven traffic converts better.. eg. i have an adult site and i get better conversions from other adult site click thrus It really depends on what your site content is and what products you have!
