appoligeis for not using the serach but's 5:10 on a friday and I want to get some serious beverages in. My question is this, our company are thinking about running google ads on our fourms, full of women talking about anything and everything, generating around 5 million pages a month. Generally anything that women talk about is mentioned so, just wonder what sort of CTR rates people are seeing on their forums ???? Is it generally lower than running them across a normal website ? Thanks
Yup, from what I've heard, the CTR is about 1.5% on content based sites, and about 0.20% on forums. Josh
Can't help but say it out loud... I just got a great idea for my next project reading that sentence This is gonna be a feel-good weekend, you know; when you walk around all day (or all night to be more correct) thinking "oh, this is gonna work out great". PS: local site, not direct competition
It's very hard to get $.20 per click on a forum in my experience. But CTR is pretty low actually, usually forums do %0.01-%0.06 CTR.
As I know, CTR for forums is around 0.1%. If you have a larger number of active forumers, the CTR will be lower.
I've seen CTR on forums ranging from 0.1% to around 2.0%. It varies due to people placing their Adsense ads either on top of the forum (below the header), right after each first post, or at the bottom (right before a thread split). I would suggest doing each of the three positions to see which CTR works best for you.
I agree, I think that the position of ads on the page, as well as colour can make a substantial difference between a very low and a high CTR. Wingdude
