CTR is in the morning higher that in the evening

I know that for apparent reasons the CPC is in the morning much higher than in the evening, but what is the reason that my CTR is in the morning hours around 6% and then gets smaller and smaller and arrives in the evening at 2% or so! I'm not talking about eCPM!

I have observed this for a few weeks now.

    Very mysterious...

Hey Mar08, I get the same thing. It starts off at around 11% then drops down to around 6% by the end of the day. I've been playing around with ad placement to try to sort this out and lately got my CTR up to about 7% by end of day. The only thing is that now my CPC is down from around $0.60 to $0.20... so I'm doing even worse now!

I have a feeling what you're talking about it because some of the more relevant ads are bidded on higher, but get cut out earlier because the advertiser hits their daily spending limit on that keyword. You know?

    Hi Spainexpat,

Very good explanation, that could be the reason!

Yeah, maybe. In my testing I noticed that certain ad placements seem to do better earlier in the day and some later in the day. In my case, a 300x250 box seems to do better early in the day, while the 160x600 does better late in the day. So my plan was to change my ad configuration based on the time of day using a PHP script. The problem is I don't know PHP very well :(

See http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=87168 for my latest beef though. Maybe you can tell me something about that one.
