CTR *EXTREMELY* low today - update problems?

Discussion in 'Reporting & Stats' started by GADOOD, Aug 8, 2005.

Nothing's changed on my site - are things updating correctly? My CTR has fallen from a steady high for months to an extremely low and VERY poor one today after a fair chunk if impressions.

Please say the clicks are delayed in showing on the stats compared to the impressions reported. This is madness!

I noticed a dropoff in clickthrough rates for my most lucrative channel starting Aug 1st. It has stayed at this level ever since.

I find this odd because I didn't change anything at all. The clickthrough rate fell by more than 50%.

I was hoping to have my first $1,000 day on Aug 1st, but that didn't happen because of this drop which pissed me off because all my calculations indicated I would finally pull it off and then my clickthroughs fall with no explanation.

When a patient goes to a doctor for help, he shows his injured limb for an examination. Give us your URL, so we can help!

Knowing his URL will do what? He asked if google was slow updating today, not how we can help him improve his CTR.

Indeed Worldwid. Kasparoff, you sneaky tyke.. that information is classified! :p

Although my CTR has fallen by a third today, the cost per clicks must of risen as I'm seeing a similar revenue as usual.. how very odd.... must be Google experimenting. Now if they could find a way to retain the CPC's I'm currently experiencing _and_ retain my original CTR, I'd be on the floor laughing right now. :D

    I'm seeing exactly the opposite.
Over the last couple of days, impressions have gone up, CTR up slightly, CPC about 50% of normal average. ODD, but not really ring alarm bells yet. If it remains like this for a week or two, then I'll start to wonder what's going on.
This is only on one site, other sites are still going as per normal - impressions up, CTR & CPC as per average.

Over the past 4 days, today excluded for some reason, I've had about 50% of what I normally see for CPC and about 40% of what I get for CTR... revenue down more than half... traffic steady... ;) It's the stupid 1 or 2 or 3 ads instead of 4 deal going on... not working for me so far... today seems better, though...

I agree bassman.. The showing of 1 or 2 ads isn't doing it for me either.. I hope this is temporary.

Yeah, you and me and most everyone else... the worst thing is, when I see 1 ad instead of 4, it's always a low paying ad, like a ____.respond.com or an ebay type ad, which pays in the mid to low $0.0x range... :(

You know you're checking your Adsense stats WAAAAAAAAAY too much when:

    1) You post on forums to ask why this particular day's CTR/earnings are so low.

    2) You post on forums to ask why this particular day's CTR/earnings are so high.

    How to solve this disease:

Don't obsess so much with the daily stats. NOTHING stays regular from day to day on the net. Let it go. Check at the end of the month to see if your traffic has dropped overall, increased overall, etc. Everything is just pointless assumptions and superfluous wild guessing when you try to predict Adsense/Google day-to-day. You only end up giving yourself heartburn or worst, an ulcer.

    RELAX.

I check my stats twice a day to see if I need to move an ad block or change a color scheme or ad a text link. Right now I like the way things look for this past week. My earnings are going up even as my CTR rate fluctuates slightly which means I have higher paying ads.
