I have a very big forum, last week my CTR dropped by 300% . I know there are no less in traffic and page impressions, only 20% of traffic from new visitors. So I wonder what happened to google. I cant believe the click count goes down

Your seasoned visitors probably figured out what parts of the site are ads.

Forums are notoriously bad in click-through rates. So try different color-schemes to see if you can shake things up a bit.

I am experiencing the same with one of my sites. Got 110 clicks on tuesday and just 25 yesterday and the traffic was the same.

300% is some drop. Could it be something to do with the time of year?

change the template and the position of the ads, your repeated visitors will see that something has changed, they will analyze the new design, because the poeple enjoy the "new".

They are used to see ads in other places ( their eyes skip ads ), but now, they will go trough them until their eye get used with the new ad placement.

I tried so many ways, if it is decreased day by day then I can agree to the above said thing, but it happened by 1 day, Usualy I can see when I tweak adsense the click rates go high and decreasing everyday. But this is not the matter. Some thing is going with adsense

How can it go down 300%? You could go down anywhere between 0 and 100% but not 300%. Do you mean your CTR is 1/3 what it was (66% drop)?

I dont know whats the exact reason why your CTR is down, but maybe you have ads from MFA sites. For that you can visit the below site, it will give the list of MFA sites and you can filter those sites :

    http://www.adsblacklist.com

It has helped me lot to increast my CTR. Hope it will help you.

Maybe not, MFA ads usually have higher CTR.

I am a regular visitor of DP. Afted reading some good posts @ DP I eliminated all MFA and other low paying ads one by one after few months investigation and CTR increased by 100%. But this time the case is different.

Another thing to notice is - it happened after a server change- the same thing happened few months before when I moved to another host. But page impression is same before and after the server change.

     :(

I will agree with kh7 post. People got used to your ad appearance and they are filtering/ ignoring it.

If you designed your ads to look like a continued menu of your site or any other method that confused your forum visitors no wonder why the CTR dropped. Quality counts and it's long term game - patience, testing and honestly is the key.

Also, don't judge one day stats.... Maybe the posts were rather irrelevant (not a good topic, not interesting topic etc) and G didn't show very good ads that could lead to potentional clicks from your web visitors..

Some case (with small site), CTR can be 300% ( someone right click ads), but with very big forum, i think it impossible to reach.

Change your ad layout/colour, etc. It'll help bring it back up.

It sure is. A 100% drop would mean his CTR dropped to 0%. So with with a 300% drop now he must have a negative CTR - giving back clicks?

Isn't it great when people don't understand the meaning of simple ratios?
