CTR = 5% - Then what?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by Wrik, Aug 10, 2008.

    Alright, after experimenting for 1 year with different ad placements, colors, etc, I managed to maintain a CTR of 5%, generating 500$/month with 4 sites. (3 of them in signature). Impressions = 3000/day.

    I hit an adsense plateau though, and I want to get to the next level - e.g., 1000$/month. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    5% is pretty high. great job, very impressive getting $500 in passive income a month. i think the next suggestion would be higher paying niches.

    Yeah, I agree. The thing is, being a graphic designer myself, I found out that the uglier the site, the higher CTR, go figure...

    I agree with the 2nd poster, it all comes down to traffic. I mean, targeted traffic here.... TARGETED TRAFFIC, nevermind social media, to some extent. SE traffic... Yeah, I guess. In my experience, the older the domain, the higher SERPs you get. F**k the PR. F**k the high PR links. Why? Who knows?

    Honestly, I think that the older the links equals to better SERPs. Well, In my case, I try to offer top of the line content (dogs site) and from my experience, that is what seems to be generating the best results. Social media is alright, don't get me wrong. It's just that it dries out after 2 weeks. BUT! (especially SU that gives alright results.) The links you're picking up? The only reason why social media works IMO.

    The thing is, I'm trying to find other adsense vectors, hence the reason why I created my 1st thread on DP... Let's think outside of the BUN here... HAHA! No BUN intended here CAP O.

    You've got some interesting sites. Way to go on your success with Adsense. I would have to agree that in order to move up higher than 5% CTR (after countless hours of experimenting with ad placement) is to find more ways of getting more targeted traffic. You analyze your search traffic and see if you can target additional longtail KWs and to gain more traffic from the SERPs.

    Get more traffic or set up more website.
    Besides, focus on the keyword might also bring up the revenue

    2 ways (in my opinion) - more traffic or more sites.

    If you choose building new websites consider choosing better niches.
    $500 with your websites is really good in my opinion.

    I would leave the adsense alone and concentrate on getting more traffic. No point changing something that works well.

    Congragulations man!

    Traffic = $$$

    So try to increase your traffic. Try to improve your search results ranking. You will get all the traffic you need from the search engines.

    CTR depends on many factors.

    The most important is traffic, which can be increased in a number of ways.
    Increasing the backlinks to your site which will increase the site rankings and will ultimately increase the the traffic.

    write articles with links to your site and submit to article directories.

    Use latest versions of automated softwares like Bookmarking Demon, SeNuke and IBP

    All are good and will help in incresing your ranking but if used properly as per instructions.

    Regards

    More content, more SEO, an affiliate program or two would give you more income too.

    You can also try making some ebooks of good quality content and sell them on your site(s).

    But of course more traffic is the obvious answer. Which means SEO/SEM work needed.

    I agree, I think it's because the user finds the website revolting to them and wants to click away as fast as they can on what ever link will get them out of there.
