Is that good? The payouts are abysmal for these ads, but you can do fairly well as long as you can stay about 30K or so impressions. I'm just wondering if I can increase the CTR. Anyone have a good CTR for a celeb site? What should I be aiming for here?
CTR alone means very, very little. I could throw up a celeb page that'd get a 20%+ CTR, but it wouldn't be scalable-- ie I wouldn't be able to keep that at 30K impressions, etc. useful sites tend to have lower CTRs. not something you can avoid to a huge extent. another major factor you need to consider is what your unique visitor to pageview ratio is-- obviously that'd have a gigantic impact as well. all in all I wouldn't say 2% is bad though. can't really say if there's room for improvement without seeing the site.
try using photos next to your site... Ive been getting about a 17%-22% CTR....and thats with about 10,000 uniques/day.
No matter how useful, celeb sites will have a very low CTR because in most cases people have no need to click on an ad. In fact, I am surprised many get 2-5% CTR.
I don't think that's right. These people are no tech-savvy at most times, they're just looking for some Nicole Richie gossip or some babe pictures, if they see something interesting in an ad - they will click it. I'd say a CTR of 2% is decent, are you gettin' 30K/day or month? cause if it's per day i'd be quite satisfied with it. Also, you can PM me with your URL i'd give you some more tips on this. Allen.H
I think 2% is on the low side for a celebrity (very non-tech) type website. As others have said: we need to see the site to be able to judge whether it can be improved.
The 30K is a daily burst, the site is only a few weeks (6) old so I don't know avg, it's been going up steadily. If I had to guess at daily I'd day 5K or so with several of those large bursts. The site is celebritypicturesandnews.com if anyone wants to suggest anything.
Do you mean images beside ads? Google is starting to ban peoples accounts because of this. I recently submitted a couple of my sites for google to take a peek at - and they were all violating their terms of service. Thankfully I can take them down.... and still keep my account. Check with google, before your account gets banned out of nowhere.
Not yet, but it seems that they're moving in that direction atm.. I've gotten emails about certain sites needing to be changed too.
2% isnt bad if you want better results, put an ad on were the ABOUT thingi is now... my eye automaticly goes there on each site i view lol... my site cuddlycats.net gets around 5-10%, but my piggymoo site gets less than a percent soo 2% is good
Not everyone has been emailed yet, but iv been told that they are starting to notify people... any image beside an ad (that you can definitely tell is only there to get more clicks), take it down - or don't put one up in the first place ... that's my recommendation I own many celebrity sites, my highest CTR is upwards of 20% (VERY HIGH for a celeb site)... but that's because I have good placement, contact me via PM for more idea's if your interested, or add me to MSN (look in my profile)
Do those smiley-ads pay enough that you don't have adsense in that spot? Same question for the adbrite stuff. Doesn't look targeted to me (and therefore extra annoying to visitors), so I'd change that to adsense.
Ive a ctr of about 2-5% on an average for my celeb blog, although hits are not much to write about, its got to do with placement and blending in & relevancy.
