CSS Troubles with faux columns

I am having some major problems with trying to get something to work. I have been messing with this for a couple of days and read multiple tutorials on this.

    www.vonstorm.com/php

I have this sort of working. If you take a look at it in IE, you will see exactly what I am looking for. I have two problems:

    1) I need to have my footer at the bottom of the window at all times. I would prefer to have it 10px from the bottom. position:absolute; bottom:0px; does not work in IE.

    2) The background behind the dog picture should be fluid to just about 10px before the footer, no matter what resolution or browser.

This works in IE however it does not work in any other browser.
Does anyone have a clue what I am doing incorrectlly.

    Thanks for any help.

Well it looks as if we have gotten this working however I am not sure if the CSS is correct.

I would like to request a couple of things if anyone has a little bit of time to help out.

Anyone that knows CSS better than we do; we would be greatly appreciative if you could look over the CSS file and tell us if we screwed anything up.

It seems to work in all browsers the way that we want it however we do not have the ability to test it on MAC's or the AOL to test it on. If anything is amiss can you send over a print screen?

    Thank You
